Mission: Untouchable (SG-4)
Location: Gate Room - Stargate Command
Timeline: TBD - Just after the rest of the teams leave
2376 words - 4.8 OF Standard Post Measure

"Captain" called Chief Larsen calling over Captain Carter, the leader of SG4. "I need a moment of your time" he continued as she neared. The gate still active as the rest of the teams made for their mission world. "You and your team are being diverted."

Cater frowned and waved the rest of SG4 to stay where they were, if they were not going with the rest of the teams it would be a poor choice to allow them to travel to that world only to have to recall them.

The blast doors slid open and in walked General Lockhart. He made a B-line straight for the Captain and the chief. He nodded at some of the technicians as he passed by them. Once once he was close enough, he looked at the group for a moment before looking at the captain. "As you all know, our primary mission is to seek out information and allies in the fight against the Goa'uld and to find further advanced technologies to assist with our offensive and defensive capabilities. That being said, SG-4, you will be going to a planet we were briefed on before the demise of Colonel Mitchell, Carter, and Dr. Jackson. Chief do you want to explain?"

"General" he said turning back to Carter. "We have been given the address to a world that, in the other timeline had been visited by SG7 and had been deemed of significate cultural and technological importance. Unfortunately at the time of the visit the Goa'uld had been keeping a close eye on SGC activities and the planet was attacked and occupied shortly there after. This is not the case here and now. The Goa'uld have no idea we have a Gate program, yet and the finds on PX7-619 could be important to our mission here. As far as we know there is not native inhabitants but thats why you are going in first. Once you have deemed the area safe we can send in an archaeological team."

Carter took all this in. She wasn't sure if she hoped there would be Jaffa warriors there or not. But whatever the situation she was sure her team would carry out their duties.

"I would like my team to go in with minimal gear and call back for additional equipment and supplies once we know if we are alone." she glanced between the Master Chief and the General.

"Very well," the general replied as he nodded to the captain. "The plan is to send in a drone first, to make sure the area around the gate is clear of any threats. Then once cleared, I will give your team the green light. Your GDOs have been preprogrammed to send back your specific teams's Iris unlocking codes. From there, the iris will be opened and your team will be cleared to return home."

"Yes sir" she said "If I may go brief my team?"

"Go for it. I'll get the technician to get things prepared," he remarked before he and the chief headed out of the gate room and went straight for the control room. There was no need for the ranking officer and chief to be there. The captain was more than capable.

Carter headed back to her team. "Okay, the long and short of our mission is..." she explained their mission as it had been to her. "Questions?" Captain Carter asked of the group.

Hannah looked at Carter “Sounds interesting, I was half expecting to be sent out to a planet that had previously needed medical assistance. I’m going to enjoy doing some exploration. Are we expecting there to be and Goa’uld or Jaffa around?”

Carter shock her head. "Not that we know of, a MALP will be sent through before us but as far as we know this world was either unknown or ignored by the Goa'uld and no one else settled there. That said we don't know for sure. So we will operate under the impression that we might encounter them at any moment."

She looked around at the rest of the team, waiting for any other questions.

"We'll be ready either way." Ayana said. Duke stood next to her, geared up in his vest and Doggles, tail wagging excitedly and panting. He knew something was going on and he was ready to see what it was.

Just like the previous stargate activations, all but the control room's klaxons flashed and voiced its loud horn. The hissing of the coolant lines came to life as the inner circle came to life. It started to rotate and the as it had before. As each part of the target address was locked into place there was a palpable excitement. For Carter this would be the first time through the gate and she was looking forward to it.

With a 'whoosh' the wormhole formed in an almost explosive release of energy. The MALP crept forward on its 6 wheels bouncing slightly before vanishing through the puddle and would soon arrive on PX7-619. Carter waited while the team in the control room had a peek around the gate on the other side. While the gate created one directional wormholes it was possible to send energy signals either way, so the MALP was now sending back video and sound.

Hannah was transfixed to the video feed, it was amazing to think that she was looking at feed from another world.

She was starting to get a little bored when the voice of the MALP tech sounded over the loud speakers. "You are a go Captain. Nothing around the gate and no radio signals."

"Good luck SG-4. You have 24 hours to report back to the SGC. If you deem addition time is needed, we will discuss it then," Lockhart called out over the intercoms.

There were many criteria that a planet needed to pass before a team was sent it took time and was kinda boring if they had all be read out. So she was happy with this and started towards the puddle in the center of the gate!

Hannah looked at her brother, she was suddenly pretty nervous about entering through the giant puddle in front of them. Would it hurt? She had so many questions.

Lucas had observed the activation, he wasn't that impressed. To him it looked like a vertical pool. Nothing special. He saw his sisters look and decided to bring the worse that could happen as a prank. Calmly he stood before the surface and quickly armed his hand through the surface. Instantly he hauled as if he was in pain and yanked his arm back, slowly he turned around and showed that his hand was now missing, as if it had vaporized. Of course he had use simple slight of hand to hide his hand in the sleeve of his jacket and the rest was just a performance. The look of shock on his face needed to be flawless as he looked at his sister.

Hannah almost leapt out of her skin as she looked at Lucas before a look of suspicion crossed her face. She knew Lucas’ wry sense of humour especially where she was concerned, he loved winding her up. She patted down his sleeve giving him a punch in the arm for making her jump, “Knock it off Lucas! I’m nervous enough without you winding me up!”

Lucas let out a massive belly laugh at her reaction. She had learned, but this was a good thing. It was now even more fun to try and prank her. Kept her on her toes. "Yes, but the worse is now over. No more worry about safety, it's just a little chilly, nothing else. See you on the other side." He grinned, readied his shotgun and walked through the gate. He was there to protect the team. Him going first made sense.

Hannah hung back to wait for the team CO to go ahead of her.

"Oy vey..." Ayana muttered to herself. As they approached the gate though, Duke recoiled back a little, barking at the gate. Naturally, it was his first time and he didn't have the benefit of knowing what this was. Duke was trained to sniff out danger, and this was an unknown to him. Lucas' performance did not serve to inspire his confidence either.

Ayana turned and knelt down, swinging her M4 behind her and picked up Duke. Duke was still unsure of what was going on, barking again at the gate.

"Hush. It's okay, we will be fine. Hush." Ayana said calmly in Hebrew to him. Duke let out a whimper as they got closer. Ayana tightened her grip so he wouldn't bolt on her.

"We'll go together. It's fine, easy." She said to calm him down, before looking to the others, "I might need to bop that joker on the back of his head for that one. Duke's a little skittish now."

Carefully, Ayana turned around and walked through the strange portal that awaited.

Carter reach out and put an hand on Hannah's hand. "You okay Doc?" it was of course a nickname she was was Hannah wouldn't like. It was the nickname of choice though.

Hannah offered a smile. “Yes I... sorry I’m just a little nervous is all.

A knowing look crossed Carters face, "I understand. We were trained to deal with the unknown, and thats what awaits us on the other side." She raised her voice a little to everyone else. "We might not be the first modern Human's to step through the gate" she began "But In my very experienced and highly professional opinion we are the best of all those who have walked through the gate. We are multinational and multi disciplined there is no threat or obstacle we can't overcome." She swung around and pointed at the active gate and wormhole, "That, that is just one more obstacle to defeat and we will do so. This i have no doubt on!"

Hannah took a deep breath before she stepped up to the event horizon, and stepped through.

Captain Amy Carter had been to almost every part of Earth and had not once shown any apprehension. While there was a small voice reminding her just how dangerous this was she stepped through the gate, showing no fear.

In what seemed like an instant she stepped out of the other end. A light, quickly dissipating frost covered her skin and gear. It wasn't cold as such, just a slight chill. They had been told about this, it was a by product of the Earth gate and would be calibrated out in time. Looking around the world they found themselves upon was green. All kinds of green, it looked like local spring, flowers everywhere and the trees in full glory.

She lowered her rifle a little, a reflex had her bring the weapon up, following her gaze.

Cameron had listened quietly to all the commotion, the happenings up by the gate and could do nothing but smile at what he saw. This was going to fun for sure and once the Captain stepped through the event horizon he soon followed much like the rest of the team.

"LT, Gunny secure the gate" she said pointing further away from the gate. The MALP sat a few meters away, just on the other side of the DHD, it had made sure that it was intact and before the gate shut down she would check all the internal crystals were in place.

Lucas was already scanning the area with his weapon, he had a dog biscuit poking out of the side of his mouth. It was a treat that didn't really go bad for some time and even if the taste was weird at first, not it was more a way for him to keep anxiety at bay.

The experience was not something she'd been ever able to experience but Ayana was glad for it all the same. She set Duke down, who promptly began to sniff around, but the fact they were not in danger, he calmed down. Ayana then looked at Lucas.

"Very funny by the way. You better have a spare one of those for Duke, he didn't find your little gag in the gate room all that funny." Ayana said as she swung her M4 to bear. Her thumb came up and flicked the safety off, and she then twisted the rifle sideways, using her right hand to pull the charging handle back just enough to check the chamber. It was habit from the IDF - never assume your weapon is ready, a second or two to check could save your life and the life of others. She let it go to drop the bolt back into battery after seeing the just the hint of brass of a round in the chamber, before looking around.

Duke sniffed around, there was a lot of strange smells and sights, and this wasn't the outside he saw this morning. But it was nice and there wasn't anything that he could tell was out of the ordinary yet. Everyone seemed relaxed, so he relaxed too, enough to mark the stone steps around the big ring thing before rejoining Ayana, his tail wagging and panting.

Hannah had found the trip through the gate not as bad as she’d been imagining. Her awe and wonder at being on another world was tempered by the fact that none of them knew exactly what they were going to find here. She remembered Hephaestus’ lesson and advice, if she had to shoot then she would, she had to protect herself and her team.

Cameron appeared behind the rest of the team. He felt a little cold, he shivered a little and tried to heat himself up but for the most part he was fine. Years at sea must have helped settle his body for the motion of the travel that got them there, or so he assumed. He kept his hand on his rifle, made sure the safety was off just in case but still he was ready for hostile contact should it be hiding in front of them. It was half raised, just in case.
